Streamlining Access to Paediatric Mental Health Services.

Recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals that approximately 40% of individuals aged 16 to 24 years experienced a mental disorder in the past year1. Additionally, a survey conducted by the Australian Psychological Society indicates a significant rise in mental health issues among children ranging from 18 months to 18 years old2. As demand continues to rise, families often encounter daunting challenges due to complex referral pathways, making it difficult to secure the necessary care for their children.

In response to this need, the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) Psychological Medicine has transitioned their state-wide paediatric mental health referrals to the Consultmed platform. This shift not only increases the accessibility of mental health services across New South Wales but also significantly enhances the overall experience for both patients and healthcare providers.

Through Consultmed, healthcare professionals can readily explore the various services offered by SCHN Psychological Medicine and have direct access to the necessary referral forms. The platform’s user-friendly interface, enhanced by the Consultpilot AI, allows for quick and efficient submission of referrals—transforming what was once a lengthy process into a matter of minutes.

Aimed at reducing the complexities of the referral process, this transition ensures timely and effective support for young patients. It supports families by providing a more responsive and streamlined healthcare experience, reflecting Consultmed’s commitment to improving service delivery through innovative solutions.
